careerification
I finally have an online portfolio that will display everything I've done in the past. Don't think this was an easy feat - I have about 6 years of work on 3 different computers that all needed to come together somehow and look good... but I ended up doing it (not all of the portfolio pieces are up yet, but the site works). If you haven't already found it, it's the main domain of this - robertwesley.com. Now. One thing that is something of interest, is that I created this blog so I could be as random as I could (considering how I used my name as the domain,) and now I'm going to be holding a professional portfolio right next to this? I will no doubt have to have contact information on the portfolio, effectively erasing any anonymity at all if the viewers of this blog go to that portfolio.
<< nope, not working | Main | straight signals? >> 12:12 PM by RobIt also means that visitors to the portfolio have the chance to view this blog if they're looking for it (I'm sure it'll be findable on search engines sometime soon, like my last one was) Oh well, I'll have to take things as they come.
The reason I have been working so hard on the portfolio is so I may apply for a real job that requires real skills that I know I have but have never been in a position of employment that showcases those skills. McDonalds, my current employer, sure doesn't appreciate my knowledge of design theory... nor my health, hehehe. *sigh* I've been looking on the internet for graphic design / web developer places in downtown vancouver, and so far I've only applied to one, but there are a couple more I'll apply to later today. If anyone out there knows anyone who's hiring, let me know and I'll look into it. Heck, if you want me to design anything for you I'll do it (as long as I get paid in some way or another).
There is one limitation that will no doubt hold me back, and that is I will be returning to full time schooling come september. The good side of this, is I just registered this morning and "full time" for me will be thursday and friday from 8:30am-1:00pm both days (as well as an online course) leaving plenty of time for a full time job.... so that I can make money to attend those classes, yey tuition hikes.
So check it out, then come back and lemme know what you think - robertwesley.com
wow, i just went through some of your stuff, and it looks really good! *sigh*.. i should make a new site.. i haven't had one in a while.
