powerobert
Well It's pretty official; I'm going to get an Apple powerbook once my student loan money comes in, and once I make up the difference from work. It'll be about $700 (CAN) more than I wanted to pay, and than I have to pay, but I just can't not get one. I've been obsessing over it for the past couple days now. I mean, I'll be doing my part to help advance technological culture past the days of Windows and non existant physical aesthetics.
It's just so sexy!

Basically I've concluded the following. I will be mainly using it for graphical works, listening to music, and internet/IM. Why wouldn't I get a mac? Main reason - the sims 2 for PC is out on Friday, and the Mac release date hasn't been set yet. Well, that, and my comfort level on PC's as well as my library of programs and games that I've grown accustomed to over these past what, 15 years? That doesn't matter. I can get a windows emulator if I really need to use some of them.
My concern about getting the powerbook model I plan to get, is that I won't have features like the superdrive (dvd-r&cd-rw) and backlit keyboard. Sure the keyboard isn't that important, but the superdrive (another what, $280) would definitely be handy for schoolwork. Problem is I don't know where I'm going to get the full $2780~ (including taxes and student discounts) so I can't go adding more features onto it.
o well. still sexy.
You're a the sims fan too!!! thats fantastic!

Posted by: B at September 14, 2004 10:34 PMhehe, spending your OSAP on a Powerbook is totally justifiable!
The Sims 2 comes out FRIDAY!? Oh dear god! I've been waiting to have a life in 3-dimensions again.
Posted by: Dave at September 16, 2004 07:33 AMI have a superdrive, and for the most part I haven't used it except for the CD-R part.
Have you considered an ibook? It would be powerful enough to run graphics applications, and it's considerably cheaper, but still very high quality.
Posted by: Aaron at September 17, 2004 12:36 PMYea, I've decided that if I need to burn dvds in the future, I could just head to school or to my sis' place and use the powerbook as a firewire drive.
I haven't really considered an iBook simply because I don't like them. I think the design is just a tiny bit too different than what I'm used to.. powerbook could still look like a really nice, slim, pc.
