presidential idol

Just you wait until polling stations are a thing of the past. The future is wireless sms voting! Or not.

I feel so compelled to offer some level of insight or opinion on the US election, but I know that almost everyone feels very strongly for one party and against another, and all who support it. There was a documentary on the CBC the other day that discussed how far this election has seperated the American people. They likened it to a level of segregation based on political affiliation; where entire towns would think, act, and be exactly alike; where any alien is considered utterly wrong and requires 'education' or expulsion.

The next night, a number of replies were shown (as CBC always does,). Two of them were from fellow Canadians who seemed to be pleased that such an unbiased report could be made - especially one that supports understanding of the other party rather than complete disregard. (seem familiar?). A single American woman left a reply, commenting something along the lines that if an American were to come up to Canada and create a documentary on a Canadian election, we would force them out of the country for invading our public freedom or political system or something of the like. That didn't make sense to me. One, the USA election is one that does not simply affect that country: it affects the world, if even indirectly; and it can have quite a significant effect on those of us north of the border. Secondly, we wouldn't care if someone came up here to cover an election. We would feel happy that finally, somebody knows enough to realize that we aren't nomadic bands of dogsledders without electricity or automobiles.

I do want a certain candidate to win. I won't say who, but if you have been reading my entries for longer than a couple weeks, you should already know (provided some education on the platforms and on certain social/religious issues are pre-existing.)

In unrelated matters, I experienced my first taste of overtime at work yesterday (9am-10pm sitting at a desk with no windows anywhere near my line of sight). It was... long. I have 2 more OT days this week, tomorrow and Thursday. They will be long. I get home, have a drink, and sleep. It's not a very productive day on any personal fronts - it also makes blog / other site updates very difficult.

Lastly, check out the current issue of cbcradio3. Some of the photos are just amazing (ie. page 03), and a number of the tracks are equally as good (ie. #4.). Now it's off to that wonderful place I call not-work... otherwise known as sleep and relaxation.
