discovery

The weather has been very interesting over the past few days. Late last week it finally stopped raining for a bit, to give us a perfectly overcast sky. As the days went on, the clouds slowly began to separate and some sunlight began to paint the landscape... quickly followed by a great wind storm over the weekend.

Sliding doors knocked back and forth as if uninvited guests were attempting to find a way in. Trees were uprooted along the highway, some had been thrown across roads throughout the city, and still others lost many of their branches. The power went out in a number of areas, some lower lying coastal flats were flooded, homes and all, and the waves at the usually ultra-calm Sunset Beach downtown were crashing into the shoreline with great force, one after another after another. The subdued moonlight skipped from crest to crest as the rolling water threw itself into the granite sea wall surrounding the beach and Stanley Park, often spraying up and coating the path surface with a layer of satly film. Wind would then gust up from the beach, funneled into the west facing streets of the city, and force its way up through town.. smearing faces, inflating jackets, and conducting a ballet to be performed by what may have once been heads of perfectly arranged hair..

And then.. there was sun. The turbulence and violence of the weekend was swept away to reveal a beautiful new perspective of the world. Branches and other debris remain strewn about the city as a reminder, but they are now no more than pieces of the past that will soon be washed away, but certainly not forgotten by the trees and bushes from which they came.

Do you ever notice how so often the weather can be a physical parallel to a state of mind?

The forecast for this week is sun, a few clouds, and maybe a little more rain.. and as far as I can tell, it's an accurate prediction..... I love sunny weather.

Rob,
I believe the weather is one of the many ways God speaks to us about our lives. It DOES have paralells to our states of being and states of mind! You're absolutely right! It's mind-boggling and utterly amazing the way all of nature shouts God's story to us....day in and day out.
in Him,
grace

So what exactly does it mean when we get 3 feet of snow every day now?! I'm not being disrespectful, I'd genuinely like to know... I hope it means that He's fixed the hole in the ozone layer and giving us back winters as they used to be...

I know it means the kids are having the time of their lives, at least!
