the block
As I continue working on my narrative piece (I think I might just be lazy and hand it in as a short story in some sort of neat physical form), I find it interesting that it's almost more personal to write fiction than to write about real people and events in my life. Does that make sense to anyone else? Or am I just backwards?

condensation
For the record, I heart autumn. I heart it lots. The way the dew, and later, frost, awakens the senses upon stepping outside in the morning. The way the trees suddenly begin to burn with colour, from the inside out. The leaves, coating the lawns, sidewalks, streets, and every other surface, make for a supremely satisfying crunch when dry underfoot, or a soft, organic carpet after days of rain. And don't even get me started on the sky. My good friends know deep down, I'm really a cloudusexual.

I was upright, camera in hand, shooting away for some time before I realized where I was. People's Full Gospel Church. Now that's odd. Sprawled out on the platform to get a better view of my subject, the location quickly made sense. I was in the church of my youth, photographing my father and myself. Man, what eyes I had in those days; as deep and saturated as a tropical sea. My younger self seemed a bit less shy than I remember, made obvious by the fact that he actually looked directly into the camera without sinking down between the pews. What the two of them were doing sitting in the 2nd row of an otherwise empty church (apart from another individual roaming the back quarters of the sanctuary) was beyond me. I was just there to take photographs of this young face.

What can I say. When I'm on a roll, I'm on a roll.. and I had a bit of a day off with a list of possible plans, none of which turned out, so I figured... why not do another redesign! And here it is.
The banner photo was shot in San Francisco (somewhat obviously perhaps) on the same roadtrip as the previous banner. It was April, 2007. A friend and I drove from Vancouver down to LA and back in 6 days and tried to see as much as we could along the way. Not an easy task, but we did it, even if we took too many photos, met too many coppers, and sort of missed the regular tourist attractions, but is that really a bad thing? no. No it's not.. It makes for better stories :)

Happy weekend! etc.
I know it's too late to start the countdown, but only 12 more weeks to go until I don't have to think about homework again! (until january)
So I've heard other people write about how their mom or dad or brother or sister or such joined the social networking site they were also a member of and things got weird. Well I've found a bunch of cousins on facebook over the months, and lately, they've been getting older and older until I found some aunts and uncles, and even a great aunt. Now, maybe it's not just me, but it feels a little creepy for someone over 70 to be on facebook. Maybe you want to keep in touch with your friends, sure, but, when your only friends on there are your children and grandchildren; that might just be borderline stalking.

second attempt
Here's another attempt at this whole video thing (you may recall my first attempt with the one about the Grouse Grind). Give it a watch and let me know what you think.. I think it's fun. I think I'll try a little harder next time, and maybe even turn off the music in the car rather than just turning it down,, so you can actually hear me ;) *shrug* learning experience.

blankets
Yo-Yo Ma and the New York Philharmonic playing live at Lincoln Centre on the tele have wooed me into a state of wonderful relaxation. What better use of this time than to put away the remaining memories of my summer to save for a rainy day.

If it looks like I'm back, you'd be right. I enjoy this blog too much to leave it, and although I had intentions of setting up a much more visual/media rich site, it never happened. I'm not that much of a programming wonder quite yet.. so instead, I reworked the existing site and added a bit to make it something like what I wanted. In the end, my real goal is to share my life with you. And in doing so, share it with myself in a way I wouldn't otherwise experience. That, in itself, has been enough to motivate me to enjoy my time here more than I was able to in the past.
